The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is happening here in our community and how can you not be involved it this? I was going to walk but decided instead to sponsor a walker instead. The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is one of the nation’s premier events to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. This event is held annually just like Relay for Life is, and is held in hundreds of communities all over the country.
It looks for volunteers, walker, teams and sponsors of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $225 million and team captains are needed now!!!
Signing up as a Team Captain is so easy. All you have to do is invite 3 people and they’ll invite 3 people and before you know it you will have a large team. Recruit friends, family and colleagues to join your team and ask for donations. All you have to do is find a walk near you, and register online. Then you will be able to create your very own website for the Memory Walk that you can use as your very own fundraising headquarters!!! So remember to sign up early in order to have enough time to build up your team.
Now I just sponsored a walker and to tell you the truth I feel so much better about it too. I feel like I’m giving to a good charity because one of my family members, Uncle Harry has Alzheimer’s and it’s very rough on us all. I want to be able to help find a cure or a treatment for Alzheimer’s. Its hard going up to him and him acting like I’m my mom and not her daughter. He actually last time I saw him didn’t really recognize me at all and was very leery of me. But I just held my head up high and kept going on it. He’s a very dear person to me and he reminds me of my grandfather.
